MHSA sanctions participation in band, chorus and orchestra. Music festivals are held in twelve districts each spring, followed by State Solo & Ensemble Festivals. The annual All-State Band, Chorus and Orchestra Festival, consisting of Montana’s best musicians and vocalists selected by audition, is held each October.

 For MISSOULA'S State Festival Participants: Should you wish to park on campus during the state festival, parking passes will be available for purchase in the festival office (Music Bldg. Room 103) and will be needed on Friday.  Saturday parking is free but please be aware that there are several large events on campus this weekend and parking will be limited.  Please plan accordingly in case you have to park on the residential streets near campus.  Buses can quickly drop students off in front of the music building but may not stay there or in front of the Dennison Theatre.  This area is a major bus stop for the city and university bus system. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

UM will provide the following instruments.  Anything not on this list should be brought by the participating schools:

Percussion performances:  Bass drum, Timpani, Glockenspiel (bells), Chimes, Xylophone, 2 vibraphones, 3 marimbas (one is a 5 octave), Large tam tam , Drumset (no cymbals), Timbales, Bongos on stand, Congas, Bass amp.

Jazz Performances:  Drumset (no cymbals), Vibraphone, Bass Amp.

Online Adjudication Clinic

All adjudicators must view the clinic every year before adjudicating at any festival.  Use the link above to access the clinic.  Be sure to register at the end of the presentation and save your verification number for reference.
